The Base Set of DWTCG will introduce the foundation of several RPG mechanics, new to TCGs, which we hope to expand upon as the game progresses.
Structures provide strong offensive or defensive advantages during battle. To build a structure, you must first gather the required materials, such as Wood and Steel, and place them in an open plot of land. Once the required materials are collected, you can play a Structure card.
There are a few different ways to fish in the game, but the most common method is by stocking a location with Fish cards from your side deck. Then, move a character with an attached fishing rod to the location and roll a die based on how many fish are at that location. For example, if you have 3 Fish cards at a location, you can roll a 1, 2, or 3 to add one of them to your hand or character.
*The more fish in a location, the easier it is to catch them.
Farming Wood or chopping down trees works similarly to fishing. In most cases, you’ll stock a location with Wood resources, then move a character with an attached axe to the location and roll based on how many Wood cards are at that location.
*The more Wood in a location, the easier it is to harvest.
Once an animal appears at a location, it becomes a target for the player. If the animal is on the North location, it can be hunted by either player. If the animal is eliminated, you may discard the animal and play the corresponding bonuses from your side deck. For example, hunting a Deer may provide you with a Red Meat card or Leather Armor.
Some locations may provide food resources every few turns, granting additional energy or healing a character's health. Certain characters or items may speed up this process.
Lootable locations will appear in the game, and usually, you'll place item cards from your side deck facedown under them when they enter play. To loot one of these locations and use the item cards underneath, you must first move a character to the location, then roll a die based on how many characters you have in play. For example, if you have 3 characters in play, you can roll a 1, 2, or 3 for a successful loot attempt.
*The more characters in play, the higher the chance of finding an item.
