Each starting deck contains 30 cards, with 10 cards in each of the three categories: Characters, Items, and Resources. This count excludes any cards used during the Set-Up phase or those stored in your Side Deck. The Set-Up phase may involve Location, Time, or Structure cards, while your Side Deck can include additional Characters, Items, or Resources obtained solely through specific actions.

If you are on the defensive, the battleground will be the Fort. Here, you can summon a Volunteer at any time, and you'll also gain an extra character slot with defensive benefits when that Volunteer is taken out. On the offensive, you'll be launching your attacks at Midnight, shrouded in darkness, allowing for quick strikes with increased speed. Additionally, you'll be operating under a Full Moon, which can transform the Dead Man Walking into a formidable Werewolf.
The Hybrid deck features 14 different characters, drawing from all six factions found in the base set. These characters bring a variety of unique abilities to the table and excel when equipped with gear. Some of these characters assist in thinning your deck, providing you with greater control over your gameplay. This control is crucial, as having the appropriate energy costs at your disposal will be the determining factor in achieving victory.
